One of the early personal home computers.\u00a0 I taught myself basics in the 7th grade and started hitting the local <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Bulletin_board_system\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BBS boards<\/a><\/strong> in the mid-&#8217;80s, before the advent of the internet.\u00a0 My 1st programming class was in <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Pascal_(programming_language)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pascal<\/a><\/strong> on an <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Apple_IIc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Apple IIc<\/a><\/strong>, but I also worked on the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/TI-99\/4A\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Texas Instruments<\/a> <\/strong>and early <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/IBM_Personal_Computer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IBM\u00a0<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/IBM_Personal_Computer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>lines<\/strong><\/a> of computers that were available in my High School<\/span>.\u00a0 Of course, in the nineties, the clones invaded, and the internet was born, and I have been going along for the ride ever since.\u00a0 Traditionally, I&#8217;m a Windows man myself, but I have a lot of experience in most operating systems.\u00a0 Most of my guides and suggestions will be for the Windows operating system.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I have built most of my own computers and upgraded others more times than I can count.\u00a0 \u00a0I have been doing this professionally off and on for decades, though these days I don&#8217;t keep up with the latest hardware and CPU tech as much as I used to.\u00a0 I have been in software service, support, maintenance, and networking for a long time now, and don&#8217;t build as much as I used to.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>My specialty is taking old and slow CPUs jammed up with viruses and malware and turning them back into speedy, zippy workstations that you remember when you 1st took them out of the box.\u00a0 I intend to create several guides in relation to computer and system maintenance that can help everyone and pass on what I have learned through many years of work and research.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Cleaning Your PC 101<\/p>\n<p>Memory<\/p>\n<p>Virus Protection<\/p>\n<p>Malware Protection<\/p>\n<p>Keeping Your Computer Safe<\/p>\n<p>Best Practices<\/p>\n<p>Increasing PC Performance<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I have been working with computers ever since I was 11, when my mother bought me a Vic 20.
